Decorations made with washable or super-washable paints are relatively easy to maintain. Small contact marks, such as near switches, chair backs, or beds, can often be smoothed out with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a very diluted neutral detergent. Use moderate pressure, especially on dark colors, to avoid localized shine.

For glazes and blended effects , cleaning must be done even more delicately. Large scuffs, furniture scrapes, or stubborn stains may be more difficult to spot-fix, because the decoration is, by nature, made up of thin layers. In many situations, it's best to work on a larger area, blending the product again to visually reintegrate the area.

Walls decorated with enamel paints or products with greater chemical resistance tolerate repeated washing and cleaning better. In hallways, stairways, apartment building entrances, or areas where frequent contact occurs, these finishes allow for greater peace of mind when using damp cloths and slightly more aggressive detergents, always following the manufacturer's instructions.

To prevent problems, it is useful to adjust some habits : avoid placing non-felted furniture directly against the walls, protect high-traffic areas with handrails or furnishings, use suitable hooks for frequently moved paintings, and be careful with suitcases, bags, and hard objects dragged against walls.

When a decor appears tired or worn, a complete or partial update may be considered. In some cases, simply touching up the main wall is sufficient; in others, it's worth revisiting the palette and finishes, taking the opportunity to update the room's overall color scheme. The ability to work in layers, without demolition, makes decorations a flexible tool for refreshing interiors years later.

By knowing the type of product used and following a few common-sense tips, decorated walls remain a valuable asset and don't become a constant worry related to maintenance.

Highlight

• If made with washable paints or wall enamels, they allow for delicate cleaning with soft cloths and neutral detergents.
• It is possible to intervene with localized touch-ups on signs and small abrasions, following the original design.
• Decorations designed on just portions of the wall (bands, panels) allow for targeted renovations over time.

Low Light

• Very dark colors or strong contrasts highlight dust, marks and poorly executed retouching more.
• If you don't keep the color code or the original product, getting invisible touch-ups can become complicated.
