Maintenance and cleaning of material resin processes (with a spatula)

The first distinction concerns use: walls, floors, showers, countertops. On walls and vertical surfaces, spatula-applied textured resin is generally very easy to handle: there are no joints, and dust settles less than on highly uneven surfaces. For cleaning, a soft cloth or non-abrasive sponge with a neutral detergent is sufficient, avoiding highly alkaline or acidic products that could damage the surface protection.
Floors and walkable surfaces are subject to wear and tear from traffic. In domestic environments, it's advisable to use microfiber cloths and gentle detergents, avoiding overly aggressive products. Using rugs in entrance areas and taking minimal care of very thin heels or dragging metal objects helps reduce scratches and concentrated marks. For resin floors in commercial or high-traffic areas, it may be helpful to schedule periodic maintenance with revitalizing products or new protective coats.
Wet areas, such as shower stalls and walls near sinks, require special attention to prevent buildup and encrustations. It's important to periodically remove soap, limescale, and shampoo residue with specific detergents compatible with the finish, always rinsing thoroughly. The accumulation of aggressive products can dull the paintwork over time or create streaks, especially in areas most in contact with water.
When it comes to household accidents, textured resins react differently depending on the type of protection used. Wine, coffee, oil, or dye stains should be cleaned as soon as possible; a good protective varnish gives you time to remove them without causing permanent damage, but leaving liquids on the surface for too long is never a good idea. If visible marks remain, it's often possible to address them with light sanding and a new coat of finish.
A significant advantage of resins is the possibility of partial restoration. In the absence of structural damage to the substrate, limited areas can be treated in a targeted manner, re-trowelled, and re-protected, limiting the intervention to the affected area only. The evaluation of these interventions should always be entrusted to a professional familiar with the applied system.
With a few correct habits and the right products, textured resins will maintain their appearance for a long time, avoiding the worn-out effect that can appear when using improper detergents or completely neglecting the surfaces.
Highlight
• The seamless surfaces are easy to clean on a daily basis.
• With the right protectors they resist many neutral detergents and normal household use well.
• It is often possible to intervene with localized repairs on signs or wear, without demolition.
Low Light
• They require the use of non-aggressive detergents: products that are too strong can dull or stain.
• In case of deep scratches or violent impacts, repairs must be carried out by competent personnel.
• Some cycles require renewal of the protector after a few years, especially in high traffic areas.
