When it comes to interior enamel, the difference between matte, satin, and gloss is much more significant than it seems. The finish not only changes the final appearance of the wall, but also the perception of light, the readability of the surfaces, the ease of cleaning, and the overall effect of the space.

Matte enamel creates a softer, more contemporary visual impact. It attenuates reflections, gives the surface a more textured feel, and tends to enhance elegant, understated spaces, well-constructed in terms of volumes and colors. It's a popular choice for living rooms, bedrooms, and areas where a refined atmosphere is desired. However, it requires well-prepared surfaces, as a matte finish is difficult to tolerate imperfections, visible grouting, or uneven transitions.

Satin enamel often strikes the perfect balance between aesthetics and practicality. It offers a subtle, more controlled reflection of light than gloss, and is easy to clean. For this reason, it's often preferred in hallways, entryways, kitchens, children's bedrooms, or any other passageway where the wall must remain attractive but also manageable over time. It's a versatile, uncluttered solution that adapts well to both classic and more modern interiors.

Glossy enamel, on the other hand, amplifies light and boldly highlights the surface. In some contexts, it can be useful for creating contrasts, highlighting architectural details, or enhancing specific elements. However, it requires very even surfaces and a coherent design, as it tends to highlight undulations, defects, and irregularities. It's not always the best choice for large domestic walls.

A proper evaluation shouldn't be based solely on personal taste, but on a combination of factors: the room's exposure, the amount of natural light, the quality of the surface, the intensity of use, and the relationship with doors, ceilings, furnishings, and floors. A well-chosen finish makes the room more credible, durable, and balanced. The wrong finish, however, can make a wall appear more fragile, more irregular, or simply out of place with the rest of the space.

Highlight

• The matte enamel gives a softer, more elegant and contemporary look
• The satin finish offers a good balance between aesthetics and practicality
• Gloss enhances the light but requires very well prepared surfaces
• The correct choice depends on the use of the environment, support and lighting

Low Light

• A finish chosen only for taste may prove to be impractical in everyday life
• Glossy surfaces easily highlight defects, waves and resurfacing
• Even matte finishes require carefully prepared primers
