BRICK MEMORIES

Attic living room with exposed brick... but decorative: faux brickwork molded and painted by hand, in varying shades for a natural effect. The arch, fireplace, and pillar take center stage; details around the radiator integrate technique and style.
The Project
Brick Memories is a project designed to bring character to an attic living room without weighing down the structure. The idea was clear: to recreate the feeling of exposed brick , but in a completely decorative, lightweight, and easy-to-maintain version. A "memory" effect, as if an ancient, warm, and lived-in wall were emerging beneath the plaster.
After the general painting and preparation, we studied the design of the walls: not a uniform covering, but a composition made of openings and portions that emerge at times. The brick takes center stage in two ways: on one side, a low wall with hand-drawn and colored bricks, on the other, large gray walls featuring decorative elements, like cracks in the plaster where the brick resurfaces . The palette is never flat: we designed and mixed different shades of red, brick, brown, and light, more neutral shades to reproduce the natural variety of real bricks.
For the entrance arch and some elements on the lower level (such as the column and parts of the fireplace/pillar), we used MDF bricks : cut to size, finished on the edges, and treated before decorating to ensure stability and durability. Once the structure was fixed, each "brick" was treated with a textured decoration that replicates the micro-porosity , small cavities, and bas-relief areas typical of brick, making the effect believable even up close. Around the radiator, the same language transforms a technical element into part of the decor, as if it had always been there.
On the upper floor, however, the decoration was obtained by “drawing” the bricks directly on the wall: here the column is not covered with MDF elements, but built with material and pictorial workmanship , so as to integrate perfectly with the attic surfaces.
The result is a more coherent and welcoming environment, where the arch at the entrance immediately opens onto a strong and recognizable sign: the brick as a common thread , capable of telling a story and giving life to the space.
